A blog by Robbie Guevara, ASPBAE President
Anyone who has tried to light 50 candles in one go would know how difficult it is, especially if you try doing it alone.
But we were never alone in celebrating ASPBAE 50th Anniversary. Throughout the year, since the launch of the anniversary in January in Manila, there have been a number of activities across each of our member countries celebrating our 50th.
Each celebration may have lit birthday candles. But more importantly each of these celebrations have also lit up the way for our members to contribute to the advancement of our advocacy to achieve a distinct education goal as part of the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
There will be more candle to light during the coming Festival of Learning in Yogyakarta. We hope that everyone who will attend, and even those who are unable to attend, will help share in the lighting of these candles as a symbol and a celebration of our commitment.
And with the conclusion of the FOL and the 50th anniversary, ASPBAE will continue to light the way. We will continue to work beyond the current post 2015 processes to achieve the goal of ensuring equitable and inclusive quality education and lifelong learning for all.
Wouldn’t that be a grand thing to celebrate when we turn 60?
